What is in the chain
Rap vocals live or die on the top of the beat, so the chain is built to put them there without hollowing out the instrumental. Each stage below uses a tool built in this studio, all of which are free in BSMT.DSP; the method is written up in full in how to mix rap vocals with free plugins.
- Clean-up: gate the room noise (DEADBOLT), tuck the breaths without deleting them (WINDPIPE).
- Level: ride every phrase to a target before compression (ELEVATOR), so the delivery keeps its dynamics inside each word.
- Tuning: from invisible correction to full hard-tune, only as far as the song wants (LOCKJAW).
- Tone: de-ess (MUZZLE), dissolve harsh resonances (SOLVENT), mid-only EQ cuts (BONESAW).
- Character: FET compression for bite (KNUCKLE), tube saturation for presence (FURNACE), a touch of multiband density (VICEGRIP).
- Space: doubles and width on hooks (XEROX, WINGSPAN), ducked reverb and delay throws (BASEMENT, SLINGSHOT).
- Room in the beat: spectral ducking so the beat steps aside only where the vocal needs it (CROWBAR).
- Master: clipper into a LUFS-metered limiter with true-peak headroom for streaming (OVERBITE, CEILING).
How it works
- Email or DM a rough of the song and a reference track. You get the tier, the price in rupees and a delivery date.
- Send the files (see below) through a shared drive link.
- The mix is delivered within the turnaround. Listen on speakers, phone and headphones.
- Send one consolidated list of notes per revision round. Small level tweaks after delivery are free.
- Final delivery: master WAV and MP3, plus any versions in your tier.
What to send
- Dry, unprocessed vocal stems as 24-bit WAV, all exported from the same start point. No reverb, no autotune, no compression baked in.
- The beat as a WAV. If you have stems for it, send them; if it is a bought two-track, that is fine too.
- BPM and key if you know them, one or two reference songs, and a sentence about the feel you want.
- For phone or USB-mic recordings: record close, in the quietest room you have, and send the raw file. Do not clean it up first.
Hear the work
The clearest reference is the credits: nine records with TRIGO and three with Rhuin, produced and mixed in this room, listed on the home page and on the about page. Own releases and beat previews are on Spotify, YouTube and the reel. Ask by email for before-and-after examples matched to your kind of song.
Languages and genres
Gujarati, Gujlish, Hindi and English rap are the daily work. Boom bap, trap, drill, melodic rap and R&B hooks are all mixed here; the approach changes with the genre, from a dry, in-your-face boom-bap vocal to a wide, tuned, stacked trap hook. Artists in Anand, Vadodara, Ahmedabad and Surat can record in person; the rest of India and abroad works remotely. See the Gujarat production page for areas served.
FAQ
How much does mixing and mastering cost in India?
Independent engineers in India typically charge between about ₹1,500 and ₹15,000 per song in 2026, depending on stem count, revisions and reputation; studio and film work runs higher. Here, a vocal mix and master over a two-track beat starts at ₹2,999 and a full stem mix and master at ₹5,999.
How much does a mix engineer charge per song?
For rap vocals over a finished beat, a few thousand rupees is the normal range from an independent engineer. The vocal mix and master tier here starts at ₹2,999 per song with two revision rounds included.
Can I pay someone to mix my song online?
Yes. Send dry vocal stems and the beat as WAV files, agree the tier and price by email or Instagram, and receive the mix and master within the stated turnaround. Revisions are handled by notes or voice message.
How long does mixing and mastering take?
Vocals over a two-track beat: 48 to 72 hours. Stem mixes: 3 to 5 days. Full production is scheduled per project. Turnaround starts once all files and the reference track are in.
How many revisions are included?
Two revision rounds on mix and stem tiers, three on full production. A revision round is one consolidated list of changes; small level tweaks after delivery are free.
What files do you need for a mix?
Dry, unprocessed vocal stems as 24-bit WAV files starting from the same point, the beat as a WAV (stems if you have them), the BPM and key, one or two reference tracks, and a note on what you want the vocal to feel like.
Do you tune vocals?
Yes, from invisible pitch correction to the full hard-tune effect, using LOCKJAW, the pitch plugin built in this studio. Say how much you want; the default is to keep the rapper's natural delivery.
Can you mix vocals recorded on a phone or a USB microphone?
Usually. Room noise, breaths, boxiness and level jumps are what the chain is built to handle. Record as dry and as close to the mic as you can, with no effects, and send the raw file.
Do you master for Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube loudness?
Yes. Masters are delivered at streaming loudness with true-peak headroom, metered with CEILING, and a louder club or playlist version is available on request.
Do you mix Gujarati and Hindi songs?
Yes. Gujarati and Hindi rap is most of the work here: nine records with TRIGO and three with Rhuin were produced and mixed in this studio. English rap and R&B hooks are welcome too.
